Camp Wilson – The Oregon Trail District Camporee

Celebrating 71 years of fun

May 4-6, 2018

Join us for a weekend full of Scouting fun, friendship, and good-spirited competition.  Troops of all sizes are welcome, whether or not you’re from the Oregon Trail District.

This year’s events and activities include:

  • An Obstacle Course
  • First Aid
  • Shooting Sports
  • Firebuilding
  • Cooking
  • Flag Etiquette
  • Team Building
  • Camping Skills
  • Pioneering
  • Backpacking Skills and more!

Located between Pine and Featherville along the Boise River, Camp Wilson has a longstanding tradition of good food, good fun, and an amazing experience that will encourage your boys to put their Scouting skills to the test.  Opportunities exist both for troops that participate in the “Saturday Plan” and head out early Saturday evening, and for troops that can stay through the “Sunday Plan”.

Starting on Friday, May 4th, the boys hike a bit more than a mile into the campsite, set up their camp, make dinner and then come to the first evening campfire with a skit and a song at the ready.  Plan ahead, as you’ll want to leave early to allow plenty of time to hike in and set up … we recommend leaving Boise by 3:45 if at all possible.  A special area is set aside for adults to camp separately … bring your own food.

Saturday the 5th starts with morning assembly, uniform inspections, and the day’s events.  Patrols compete in a variety of different events, and their camp is checked while they are out.  This is their time to shine!  By the end of the day, scores will be calculated, and the Sunday Plan troops take part in a camp-wide game.  After dinner, winning patrols at each event are announced at the Event Awards Assembly, and the Saturday Plan troops can depart right afterwards if they need to, or are welcome to join us for the Scoutmaster Pancake Race, campfire and honor trail.

Sunday Plan troops are welcome to stay through the 6th and join us for an interdenominational service, and to find out which Troop takes home the top honors, including the right to lead the lunch line into the grand annual bar-b-que!  Prepared over the course of the entire weekend, the local community turns out in force to make this a great way to wrap up the weekend.

If you haven’t come before, now’s the time to check it out.  If you have, then welcome back … we look forward to seeing you!  Contact us at campwilson.id@gmail.com or visit http://oreidascouting.org/camp-wilson
